The Department of Advanced Academic Services will host “Growing Up Gifted in a Global Society,” a parent education and Gifted and Talented elementary student enrichment event, on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Akins High School. The event will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and is meant to educate parents and students involved in AƵ's Gifted and Talented Program.
The parent session will discuss moral development, global Issues, and 21st Century skills. In addition, the department will feature topics and activities such as a math and literacy casino, exploring world languages, future problem solving, cultural connections, and fitness matters, all of which are meant to further student growth. There will also be a prize drawing. Come join us for this free event.
