Crossing guard and students demo safety at crosswalks
Austin °¼Í¹ÊÓÆµ and the City of Austin will hold a press conference just prior to the kickoff of the Back-to-School Bash on Saturday to promote safe travels to and from school.
Who: A°¼Í¹ÊÓÆµ Superintendent Paul Cruz, Austin Mayor Steve Adler and A°¼Í¹ÊÓÆµ Police Chief Eric Mendez.
What: A°¼Í¹ÊÓÆµ and community partners will provide families information about how to prepare students for the 2015–16 academic year, including safety information. Blazier Elementary School students will demonstrate how to be safe on crosswalks.
When: 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 15
Where: Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road
Background: The Back-to-School Bash informs A°¼Í¹ÊÓÆµ parents and students about district and community resources available to families for a safe and successful start to the new school year. This is an initiative of the A°¼Í¹ÊÓÆµ Department of Communications and Community Engagement and the City of Austin Safe Routes to School Program.
